A popular cookie shop that got its start in Toronto (but has a fun Niagara-on-the-Lake connection) will be celebrating its grand opening in NOTL this weekend.

Craig’s Cookies, a growing brand that offers thick, chewy cookies in a variety of unique flavours (think chocolate chip, apple pie, butterscotch pecan, chili chocolate, maple bacon, Mars Bar, Oreo, Reese’s Pieces, shortbread, toffee and more) recently announced that it’s hosting the grand opening of its new NOTL location on July 1 at 10 am.

“We can’t wait to meet everyone!” the brand wrote on Instagram.

Craig’s Cookies, which operates six standalone locations in Toronto and Newfoundland, was founded by Craig Pike, a Newfoundland native who started baking cookies with his mother in the 1980s.

Pike told Retail Insider that he worked for the NOTL-based Shaw Festival in the earlier 2000s.

According to the article, he worked there for four seasons before moving back to Toronto in 2012.

The Craig’s Cookies’ website says the first batch of cookies was created in 2013.

The newest store is located at 106 Queen St. in the town’s historic downtown.
