GO train schedule changes for this coming weekend (Oct. 29-30) will impact thousands of riders in Mississauga, Brampton, Durham, Hamilton, Halton and Niagara.

The changes, which are relatively minor in nature, according to GO officials, will also impact passengers using trains between Union Station in Toronto and places north all the way to Barrie.

Officials with Metrolinx, the provincial agency that runs GO, say passengers this weekend can expect hourly service along both the Lakeshore West line (Union Station Toronto west to West Harbour in Hamilton, with all Mississauga and Halton stops in between) and the line that runs between Union Station and Aurora/Barrie.

Additionally, they say, there will be minor impacts to the Lakeshore East line, which runs from Toronto east to Oshawa.

As it relates to the busy Lakeshore West line, on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 29-30) the line will see hourly service between Toronto and Hamilton, “with some temporary changes to the Niagara Falls schedule.”

The service changes are to allow for regular track and bridge maintenance, Metrolinx says.

“Keeping our railway running smoothly for customers is our top priority,” officials say, noting they plan track maintenance and other work on weekends to prevent disruptions during weekday rush-hour trips.

Along the Lakeshore East line this weekend, passengers can expect some adjustments early in the morning and later in the evening as well as some minor schedule changes on bus routes 12, 15 and 18, officials say.

Also, drivers should be aware of major construction work this weekend at the QEW and Hurontario St. interchange in Mississauga as crews dig underneath the highway to accommodate the new Hazel McCallion light rail transit (LRT) Line to run between south Mississauga and Brampton.

Next week, officials say, people can expect more schedule changes on the Lakeshore West line that are necessary as construction continues to link the new Hazel McCallion Line with Port Credit GO station.
