The city is kicking off a hiring blitz for transit drivers to fill full-time positions driving Brampton Transit routes.

With a shortage of temporary transit workers available in the city, Brampton Transit says it is looking for transit operator recruits for its upcoming 2024/2025 training classes.

Full-time drivers can make up to $38.05 per hour and the position comes with group benefits, vacation time and a fully paid five-week training program. And while the positions open now are temporary, the city says transit drivers with a good performance record can successful in obtaining permanent positions within 12 to 18 months of being hired.

Brampton Transit says it is looking for candidates with customer service, good communication skills and a positive attitude.

Qualifications include a Grade 12 education or equivalent secondary education, a current class CZ licence in good standing or the ability to upgrade an existing class G driver’s licence to a class CZ licence, and a three-year driver’s abstract with no infractions, offences, convictions, demerit points or accidents.
