The discount footwear chain Canadian Shoe Outlet (CSO) is running store closing sales at all 15 locations across Ontario.

The CSO chain launched in 2019, taking over former Payless locations. A company release said that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on brick-and-mortar stores.

“We had a great fall-winter season in 2019 but were forced to close all stores in early spring of 2020 due to COVID protocols,” CSO’s Ishan Singh said.

“Missing the holiday season in 2020 and the summer seasons in both 2020 and 2021 made it too difficult for us to carry on, forcing us to make the very difficult decision to close the chain,” Singh added.

Prices will be reduced up to 50 per cent as CSO attempts to sell all merchandise within its stores.

There is a CSO in Mississauga at the Dixie Outlet mall (1250 Dixie Outlet Mall).

There is also a store in Hamilton at the Jackson Square mall (2 King St. W.), along with locations in Halton Hills (280 Guelph St.), St. Catharines (Fairview Hall, 285 Geneva St.) and Welland (Seaway Mall, 800 Niagara St.).
