Five Spots to Check Out This Summer in Mississauga

Believe it or not, summer is still here, so there’s still time to advantage of the sun and longer days. 

Another thing you might not realize? Mississauga has a lot of hidden gems and things to do within the city (so really, you don’t have to travel far to hit a beach, golf or check out impressive boats.

Take your car, hop on a MiWay bus or ride your bike to see some of these fascinating places.

 1) Build Sandcastles

Looking to catch some sun on a beach? Whether you want to build a sandcastle or take a quick dip in the lake, Mississauga has waterfront parks and beaches, great for a fun day with the family. Pack up your swimsuits, towels and sunscreen and head to Jack Darling Park, Richard Memorial Park or Lakefront Promenade Park for a fun day by the sand and water.

2) See the Airplanes

Opening in September, Danville Park will feature a unique aviation-theme area where you a can watch planes take off and land at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The park will also include two internationally-sized cricket pitches, a toboggan hill and pedestrian and cycling pathways. 

If you haven’t already seen it, Malton has a CF 100 Mk5 aircraft monument at Paul Coffey Park. It’s been displayed there for more than 50 years and honours those who died in World War II. 

3) Fly a Kite

No matter what your age is, it’s never too late to fly a kite. Many of the parks in Mississauga have open fields perfect for flying a kite. Try the parks by the waterfront where the wind picks up a little more. 

4) Watch the Sailboats

Located beside Lake Ontario, Port Credit is the perfect neighbourhood to take a stroll though. Within the heart of Port Credit is a marina as well as working lighthouse. Come out to see the iconic red and white lighthouse and watch the sailboats navigate throughout the lake. 

Another great place to watch sailboats is Lakefront Promenade Park. Spend a day with the family and also enjoy the playground, spray pad or a stroll along the trails.

5) Check out the Greens at the Golf Course

For any golf lovers, the city has two golf courses in Mississauga: Braeben Golf Course and Lakeview Golf Course. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced player, one of these golf courses will suit your ability. Amenities at these courses vary by location and include a driving range, junior golf camps, professional teachers, golf club rentals, pull and power carts and banquet facilities. Pack up your clubs and head out to one of these beautiful golf courses this summer.
