Looking for an experience that will add more to your night out instead of meeting your friends somewhere loud and talking over all the noise? Feeling that mid-year slump where you need to try out something new and discover a hidden talent? Craving a classy place to hang out with your friends and enjoy a glass of carefully curated wine, enjoy good conversation and appreciate some amazing art?

Look no further- Mississauga has just gotten the first of its kind art studio and wine bar, just in time for party season.

The Studio–a “paint and sip” business, located conveniently on the corner of Hurontario and Lakeshore Road East and right across from Port Credit Go-Station–is perfect for a night out.

First opening its doors on Aug. 21, 2018, it has been busy ever since hosting one-of-a-kind paint parties, art experiences and amazing private art events.

The classy event space is totally instagram-worthy and offers a treat for all of your senses.  If you enjoy good wine and craft beers paired with the yummiest in appetizers, beautiful decor, curated musical playlists and a great and meaningful night out learning about painting and anything artsy and eating to try it out yourself, then you’re in for an experience you will never forget.

Julia Chattopadhyay, co-founder of the Studio, is an artist herself and her passion for opening the space was to make art accessible to people of all ages, skill-levels and walks of life.

“I am a self-taught artist that has been painting since I was very young as a hobby and so I am very passionate about this concept.  I was always looking for a space that is open to anyone to just come in and spend some time with an easel, canvas and paint and see what they can create without having to worry about cleaning up, paying rent or purchasing tons of supplies,” says Julia.

“By creating a beautiful space where anyone- young and old, trained and experienced or new at art will feel at ease and comfortable, and allowing anyone to essentially rent a studio space for as long as they want to paint their own masterpieces, has been a dream come true for me.”

The Studio is like a comfortable and exciting living room/studio where you can come and either just enjoy the artwork on the walls displayed by local artists, meet some of them and discuss their creative process, enjoy a glass of wine in a hip little bar, or get seriously into your canvas and painting.

It is in one of the trendiest and most happening neighbourhoods in Mississauga and is situated in a picturesque little square close to some amazing nightlife, sweet and unique coffee shops and great spas/salons to spend time in.

“With plenty of free parking for our guests or the ultimate in ease for transit accessibility, we hope to be the draw for people to come in and experience just some of the creativity and artistry that Port Credit has to offer” says Rick Chattopadhyay, co-founder of The Studio.

“People typically plan a whole night out incorporating us into their plans. We are a great place to start or end a memorable night. From girls night outs to date nights, people come and paint and then leave their works to dry while heading out to one of the great restaurants or bars to dance, neighbouring art galleries/studios to check out their amazing shows, or to listen to the upbeat live music offerings near by. Alternatively, they also come to us after having a great dinner, and finish off their night with a meaningful and exciting experience at our paint bar.”

“We were really inspired by the whole paint and sip/ social painting phenomenon.” says Julia.

“As an artist, sometimes we are our worst critics and stop ourselves from finishing our work or knowing when to let go of ourselves to express ourselves through art. Experiencing a paint night first-hand many years ago and watching people paint alongside with me who had never painted in their lives and actually finish a painting and feel so proud, accomplished and inspired really spoke to me.”

Julia says painting can be a deeply personal and fulfilling activity.

“It was exactly what I needed to experience after years of hesitating to pick up a brush, and I remember coming home and not being able to stop painting. I even started painting with my four-year-old, and together we painted many memorable paintings together.  It was the bonding experience; the discovery of an interest, the courage to try something new, that was so inspiring and fun. Rick and I knew this was what we wanted to bring in a big way to Mississauga.”

While there are other paint and sip providers across the GTA, The Studio is one like no other.

With a fully licensed wine bar, amazing catering partnerships with local businesses, a growing network of creative partners in the community and an ambiance and programming that is guaranteed to be like no other art studio you have ever been in, it is worth checking out.

“Most people that walk in our space cannot believe what it looks like on the inside. They do not expect an art space to look like what we have designed. Even though our space is extremely chic and beautiful, it is a place where you can splatter some paint and get your creative juices flowing.  Everything is specially chosen- from the flooring to the table tops- to ensure that it is a comfortable art environment that also can be used as a premium event space.” says Julia.
