Fireworks, food truck rally, live music and more happening at Hamilton’s Canada Day event

With Canada Day long weekend just two weeks away, many people may already have their travel plans in motion. However, for those staying in the city, there’s an event to look forward to.

Hamiltonians are in for a treat with this year’s Canada Day celebration that will be filled with fireworks, food, and tons of activities, according to city officials.

The city is all set to host an event that will bring people together for a day of festivities at 1 p.m., in Bayfront Park ( 200 Harbourfront Dr). The highlight being, Hamilton’s custom fireworks that will be set off at 10 p.m., lighting up the night sky.

Food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to indulge in a Food Truck Rally, featuring a diverse selection of Ontario’s finest mobile eateries, from classic fish and chips to shawarma, ice-creams and more.

“Prepare for a day packed with delightful children’s recreation and arts activities that will spark their creativity and keep them entertained,” read City of Hamilton’s press release.

Visitors are encouraged to utilize additional municipal parking available in the surrounding area as parking at the park will be extremely limited.

However,  HSR (Hamilton Street Railway) shuttles will be available for commuters, to ensure easy access to the venue.

As preparations for the fireworks display are underway, certain sections of the bicycle path around Bayfront Park will be closed from June 30, to  July 2.

Additionally, the boat launch will be closed on July 1. For those looking for an alternative viewing spot,  can head to the Pier 4 Park.

The city has banned the use of  personal fireworks and sparklers on-site to ensure safety of all those attending.

While pets are allowed at the event, pet owners are advised to keep their furry friends on a leash and close to them, at all times.
