Financial whiz needed to volunteer for Halton school board’s audit committee

If you’re good with numbers, the Halton District School Board is hoping you’ll join their audit committee.
The Board is seeking a community member from Milton, Oakville, Burlington or Halton Hills with financial expertise and business knowledge to serve on its audit committee for a three-year term beginning April 1.
The ideal candidate will embrace an equitable, multicultural and inclusive environment and is willing to dedicate their time to make a lasting contribution to the Board.
The audit committee is comprised of three trustees and two independent members drawn from the community at large. They meet at least three times a year, plus other meetings as required.
Meetings take place at the J.W. Singleton Education Centre beginning at 2 p.m., and selected meetings may also take place in a virtual format.
The primary role of the audit committee is to assist the board of trustees in fulfilling duties related to governance and oversight.
The candidate’s eligibility criteria includes:
- Applicants must have sufficient accounting, senior financial management or other relevant business experience to understand public sector accounting and auditing standards
- The applicant must not be a current employee or Officer of the Board or of any other district school board or school authority
- The applicant must not have a parent, child or spouse currently employed by the Board
