Seventh death from storm reported in Clarington’s Ganaraska Forest

Durham Region Police say a 30-year-old man has died after being struck by a falling tree during the storm yesterday (May 21).
Officers of the East Division were dispatched to the Ganaraska Forest around 3 p.m. for an unrelated matter.
While in the forest, an officer was advised of an man who had been injured by a falling tree during the storm.
Officers arrived on the scene to find a man suffering from “significant trauma.”
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Next-of-kin have been notified but the male’s identity will not be released at this time.

This is the seventh death reported in Ontario as a result of Saturday’s storm, which hit parts of Ontario and Quebec. At least one tornado was identified in Uxbridge, which caused widespread destruction.
Victims in Ontario included a 44-year-old man who died in Greater Madawaska west of Ottawa, a woman in her 70s out for a walk in Brampton, a 59 year-old man on a golf course in Ottawa, a 64 year-old woman at a home in North Kawartha Township, a 74 year-old woman in Port Hope, the 30 year-old in Clarington and one person who was killed in their camping trailer near Pinehurst Lake in Waterloo Region.
