Family, police concerned for missing Acton man who has been without medication

Halton police are asking for the public’s help in finding an Acton man.

Both police and family are concerned for the well-being of Joao Matais, 50, who was last seen on March 1, in the area of Rachlin Dr. and Churchill Rd. S. in Acton.

Matais is a white male with brown hair with a beard. He is 5-foot-9 and 180 lbs., with a heavy build. He has thick eyebrows, both ears are pierced and a tattoo on his left forearm of the Canadian and Portuguese flags.

 

His family is concerned as Matais has not taken his medication.

Anyone with information about Joao or his possible location is asked to contact police through 9-1-1 or via the non-emergency line at 905-825-4777.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or at the website.

A person can be reported missing at any time – there is no 24 hour waiting period. If you are concerned for someone’s immediate safety, call 9-1-1. Otherwise, you can report a person as missing to the Halton Regional Police Service by calling the non-emergency number 905-825-4777.
