Eight Brampton postal codes have over a 15% COVID-19 positivity rates

Ten areas in Brampton are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario, with eight having over 15% positivity.
Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of May 2 to 8.
Of the top 50 listed, ten are in Brampton:
L6P at 19.02% (area of The Gore and Castlemore)
5th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (9th highest during previous week)
L6R at 17.83% (area of Sandalwood Pkwy E and Torbram)
10th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (7th highest during previous week)
L7A at 16.84% (area of Sandalwood Pkwy W and Chinguacousy)
12th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (8th during previous week)
L6Y at 16.26% (area of Chinguacousy and Steeles Ave W)
17th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (12th during previous week)
L6S at 16.07% (area of Williams Pkwy and Bramalea Rd)
20th highest percent positivity area in Ontario (28th during previous week)

For the same week, Mississauga had eight areas listed in the top 50.
The same data for the week indicates that out of all of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) has the worst COVID-19 percent positivity for the eighth week in a row.
For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of May 2 was 7.7% (compared to 8.6% the previous week).
Ontario has reached 46% overall vaccine coverage, up 6% from the previous week.
