Early morning blaze at Hamilton home sends three people to hospital

Emergency crews are on the scene of an early morning residential fire in North Hamilton Thursday (Jan. 14) that has sent three people to hospital.

Hamilton Fire crews were called to a house on Lloyd Street near Lottridge shortly after 5 a.m. to reports of a structure fire.

The Hamilton Fire Department says that crews had to rescue two residents from the building while five others managed to self-evacuate.

One firefighter, who suffered a heat-related injury, and the rescued occupants were taken to hospital.

HFD Tweet around 6:30 a.m. that the fire was under control.

UPDATE: The Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified and will be helping to determine the cause of the fire.

Damages are estimated to be in excess of $250,000 and the Red Cross has been called in to assist the displaced residents, according to HFD.
