Drugs discovered in Clarington traffic stop nets charges for three

Three people have been charged after police claim they discovered drugs in a car during a traffic stop in Clarington.
The car got pulled over near Baseline Road and Liberty Street South on April 23. Officers on patrol flagged the car as suspicious shortly before 8:30 p.m. and discovered the registered owner was wanted.
When the officers pulled the car over they learned the driver was indeed the registered owner and had a warrant out for his arrest. A second wanted man was riding in the car along with a woman less known to investigators.
The officers searched the vehicle after arresting the trio and claim to have found methamphetamine, cocaine and an unspecified opioid. They also say they found weapons in the vehicle but did not specify their nature.
Edward Whalen, 38 of no fixed address, is charged with seven offences including three counts of drug possession with intent to traffic, carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of breaking court orders and obstructing police.
Daniel Werginz, 31 of Bowmanville, is charged with two drug possession charges and and failure to comply with a release order. Werginz and Whalen remain in custody pending a bail hearing.

Finally, Brittany Ranger, 28 of Oshawa, is charged with the same offences as Werginz. However, she was released with further conditions.
