DRPS adds 18 new recruits at graduation ceremony in Oshawa

Durham Police welcomed 18 new recruits to the organization at a graduation ceremony Tuesday night in Oshawa.
The graduation included the Pipes and Drums, DRPS choir and the families and friends of the recruits who were there to show their support. The recruits recited their Declaration of Membership after being greeted by outgoing Chief Todd Rollauer. Each recruit was also presented with their badge.
The DRPS K9 unit’s newest Police Service dog Summit also received his badge. He will join handler D/Cst. Dever as DRPS’ newest K9 team.
Class valedictorian Cst. Anthony Murray spoke on behalf of the graduating class and Cst. James Fox was the recipient of the Allan D Christiansen Memorial Award as voted by the recruit class. This award honours Cst. Fox for his positive attitude in life and training, exceptional leadership qualities, dedication to a high level of personal fitness and commitment to volunteering.
The officers will join platoons across Durham Region and receive training from coach officers for the next three months.
