A downtown Oshawa steakhouse has shut down, with a notice on the front door from the landlord saying the restaurant owners owe nearly $70,000 in back rent.
Legends of Fazio’s opened in 2019, two years after the original Fazio’s – a mainstay in the core for 38 years especially known for an extensive wine cellar of more than 20,000 bottles – closed when Tino Fazio retired and sold the building at 33 Simcoe St. S.
Thas Thurairasa said he was paying homage to Fazio’s when he opened under the Legends of Fazio’s name in 2019.
The notice from the bailiff, dated April 10, said the locks have been changed and entry to remove personal property would only be done with the permission of the landlord – WJW Canada Inc. of Thornhill.
The sign said the business owes $69,911.94 in back rent and that it has five days to remove any assets before they go into storage.
