Double shooting leaves victim in critical condition, charges laid against Brampton man

One man is still in critical condition after a double shooting that has led to charges for a man from Brampton.

Officers were called to a home on King Street in Brantford after shots rang out around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, the Brantford Police Service says.

Police say two men were found inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both of the victims were rushed to hospital and police say one of the men is still in critical condition.

Less than half an hour after police received the shooting call, investigators say a 23-year-old man from Brampton was arrested by officers, including members of the Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team and K-9 unit.

A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered and police do not believe this to be a random incident, saying investigators are not looking for any additional suspects.

Police have not disclosed any additional details about the accused, including their identity.

The accused will appear in bail court today and is facing charges including aggravated assault and multiple firearm-related offences.
