“Look, Ma, no hands!” While that might work for a child, it does not apply to adults.
Yesterday (Jan. 30), Niagara OPP stopped a driver who was allegedly double-handed texting while going over the Garden City Skyway in St. Catharines.
Aside from having no hands on the wheel, that driver could be in for a heavy penalty.
A first distracted driving offence in Ontario now carries a fine of $615 to $1,000, three demerit points, and a license suspension of three days.
For a second offence, the fine can be as high as $2,000, six demerit points, and a license suspension of seven days.
The Niagara OPP pleads, “Please keep your eyes on the road.”
