Details emerge of life-threatening stabbing in Pickering

More detail about yesterday’s stabbing in Pickering that left a woman fighting for her life has emerged.

Police were called to a home near Valley Ridge Cres and Thicket Cres at around 8:20 a.m. May 11 regarding a disturbance. On arrival the officers found a middle-aged woman in life-threatening condition. She was then rushed to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment.

Police believe it was the woman’s son who stabbed her. Police arrested 25-year-old man on scene and charged him with assault by choking, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.

The man, who police have not identified or described, will remain in custody until a bail hearing.
