Motorists in Mississauga and Oakville were advised to avoid an area where there is a low-hanging communication wire.

A report from Peel Regional Police says that “a communication wire has been hit and is hanging low” at the intersection of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Royal Windsor Drive. A truck struck a pole, causing the wire to dip, and it requires repair work by Bell Canada technicians.

While there is no danger of electrocution, officers from both Peel and Halton Regional Police Service are in the area to assist with traffic control. The collision happened near the jurisdictional boundary for both police services.

There was no immediate report of a formal closure of the intersection.

The report was made around 4:30 p.m. on Friday (May 13).
