Daily COVID-19 cases are dropping in Niagara but more deaths this week

The new daily cases of COVID-19 are dropping to pre-Omicron levels last seen in October.
However, the death toll in Niagara continues to move up as now 565 Niagara residents have succumbed.
The past week saw more of the usual up-and-down numbers but the main difference these days is the ‘up’ isn’t very high anymore.
The number of known new cases for the past seven day have ranged from a high of 29 on Tuesday to just nine today, the lowest single number in 2022.
Keep in mind that these numbers are flexible and can changed. June 1 totals were initially list as four cases. By the next day, that turned into 19 cases.
As well, due to the initial Omicron surge, the region had attached a disclaimer to the daily figures, noting, “Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, limited availability of testing, and changes to case and contact management practices, case counts are an underestimate of the true number of individuals in Niagara with COVID-19.”
