Canadian Tire Motorsport Park opens its major event schedule next weekend with the eBay Motors 200 NASCAR Pinty’s Series Race, the main attraction of the Castrol SpeedFest Victoria Day weekend festivities May 19-21.

Race organizers will host a Zoom Media Conference to preview the race with drivers DJ Kennington and Treyton Lapecevich Tuesday morning, with the two drivers representing the veteran and young talent found on the circuit.

Kennington, 45, is the 2010 and 2012 series champion and the son of former CASCAR driver Doug Kennington, the founder of St. Thomas Raceway Park. Lapecevich, freshly turned 19, was the Pinty’s rookie of the year in 2021 and became Canada’s youngest stock car champion when he won two races (along with ten top-10 finishes) in 2022. His older brother Cayden was the Pinty’s Series champion in 2016.

Kennington was 11th in last year’s race and third in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series standings. Lapecevich was fourth in the final standings and sixth in the 2022 race.

Treyton Lapecevich became Canada’s youngest stock car champion when he won two races in 2022 at just 18

Other events on the Victoria Day weekend schedule at the track, located north of Bowmanville, include races in the Sports Car Championship Canada, Emzone Radical Cup Canada and the Super Production Challenge, as well as fireworks that will light up the sky at this holiday weekend classic.

There’s plenty of off-track excitement for race fans of all ages, including interactive displays, vendors, food, a beer garden and live music Saturday night in the CTMP Marketplace, while the Canadian Tire Fun Zone serves up fun activities for families with younger kids.
