UPDATE: Final Update: The commercial truck’s driver’s injuries have been downgraded to not life-threatening. All lanes have been opened.
Police say to expect heavy traffic on a busy Brampton highway following a three-vehicle collision that’s closed six lanes of traffic and sent two drivers to hospital.
The collision happened on Highway 407 near Highway 427 shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday with the OPP saying officers were called to the scene for reports of a three-vehicle crash.
Police say two of the vehicles were commercial trucks while the third was a passenger vehicle.
The driver of one of the commercial trucks was rushed to hospital with unknown injuries, and a second driver was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The OPP says six westbound lanes of Highway 407 have been closed between Goreway Road and Highway 427 with only one right-hand lane open to traffic.
Police say drivers in the area should expect hours-long traffic delays to last into the afternoon, and motorists may want to avoid the area or find alternate routes if possible.
