Police have laid charges against a man and a woman from Markham following an operation to disrupt the alleged dealing of fentanyl in Brampton.

The investigation was dubbed Project Uber and got started in November after Peel Regional Police say officers received tips about possible drug activity in downtown Brampton, specifically the dealing of fentanyl.

The months-long investigation has led police to arrest and charge a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Markham.

Police say a 9mm Glock handgun and a large quantity of drugs were seized in the investigation, including 148 grams of cocaine, 90 grams of fentanyl, hydromorphine and Ocycoton pills.

The drugs had a combined street value of approximately $43,000.00, according to police.

Quinton Galloway, 26, and Andrea Sassani-Nilgoon, 27, have both been charged with three counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one count each of knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.

The accused both appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on March 17 for a bail hearing, police said.
