There’s been another outbreak of COVID-19 in Peel Region with infections traced back to an event the Mississauga Convention Centre.

Peel Public Health (PPH) says guests who were at the center on Wednesday, Dec. 2 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. need to self-isolate and get tested for the virus.

PPH said all guests need to get tested and isolate “regardless of vaccination status” due in part to the rapid spread of Omicron variant of the virus in Ontario.

“All attendees should get tested and must self-isolate until they receive a negative test result,” PPH said in a statement.

Everyone seeking testing because of the Dec. 2 exposure should give testers outbreak number 2253-2021-52829. PPH not disclose what type of event lead to the outbreak.

This is the second warning about Peel Region COVID-19 outbreaks related to an event at the convention centre in less than two weeks.

Guests at a wedding on Nov. 20 were also told to get tested after a number of infections were traced back to the centre located at 75 Derry Rd. West.

You can find information on how to get tested for COVID-19 by visiting www.peelregion.ca or searching online for “COVID testing near me” with location services enabled.

Information on how to self-isolate can be found at Coronavirus self-isolation page.

PPH said failure to comply with a self-isolation order can result in fines under the Section 22 Class Order.
