Brampton’s Canada Day celebrations at Chinguacousy Park are set to return July 1 with live entertainment, family activities, food vendors and one of the city’s largest fireworks displays, officials announced today (June 15).

The free, all-day event will run from noon until 10 p.m. and is expected to draw large crowds to the park, which will be transformed into what city officials are calling a “signature” Canada Day destination.

Mayor Patrick Brown said the event is intended to bring residents together to celebrate the country.

“On Canada Day, we want to be passionate and celebrate this incredible country,” Brown said, noting the event has grown into one of the largest Canada Day gatherings in the region.

This year’s lineup includes live performances from country music acts Emerson Drive and Lee Brice, along with family-focused attractions spread throughout the park.

Activities will include inflatable rides, games and slides, a petting zoo and pony rides, paddle boats, a splash pad, a wading pool, miniature golf and other attractions. Music will also be performed during the afternoon.

A highlight of the day will be a free cupcake giveaway scheduled for late afternoon, with the mayor and councillors expected to serve residents.

Food vendors, trucks and a licensed beer garden will also be on site throughout the day.

The event will conclude at 10 p.m. with a fireworks display presented by Tim Hortons.

Officials say the celebration is supported through sponsorships and government funding, which allow the city to offer the event free of charge to residents.
