10 huge finds at the new Costco in Ontario

A new Costco opened in Mississauga late last month and it’s unlike the retail giant’s three other locations in the city.

A Costco Business Centre opened at 3115 Argentia Road, which is near Winston Churchill Boulevard in Mississauga’s northwest end.

It’s only the seventh of its kind in Canada.

“Open to all Costco members, the business centre concept is vastly different from the traditional Costco warehouse, with more than 70 per cent of the product offerings unique to the business centre, and targeted to meet the needs of businesses of all sizes,” a Costco news release said.

That means even bigger product sizes than what you’d find at a normal Costco.

INsauga.com visited the new location on Wednesday to see what’s offered.

In addition to unusually massive items (10 of which you will see listed below), there were still plenty of usual Costco-sized products for sale, so household shopping can still be done there.

Also of note, during the Wednesday afternoon visit, parking was relatively easy to find and there was no line at the checkout.

There is no food court at the business centre, however, so you won’t be able to get a $1.50 hot dog and drink.

Here’s a look at some huge products we found at the new Costco Business Centre in Mississauga:

1. Barrel of maple syrup

For $2,499.99, you can buy a barrel of pure, “very dark” maple syrup.

That’s 208.6 litres.

Per 100 ml, that comes out to about $1.20.

2. Barrel of olive oil

If you don’t want a barrel of maple syrup, right next to them are barrels of olive oil.

Those cost $1,299.99 each.

They’re 208 litres, so per 100 ml, that comes out to about $0.63.

3. Huge mixer

This huge, 1,078-pound mixer has a capacity of 56.7 litres.

It has four speeds and comes with three accessories: a whip, spatula and hook.

It costs $6,499.99 and comes with a two-year warranty.

4. Commercial ice machine

A big ice machine is also for sale there.

For $2,799.99 you can get the Resolute 420 lb ice maker.

There are also other appliances for businesses there, including fryers, freezers, fridges, and a $6,000 commercial espresso machine.

5. Buckets of mayo

If you love mayo, you can buy a 16-litre bucket of it.

Heinz-brand buckets cost $79.99, but they’re on sale for $63.99 until Nov. 9.

Sixteen-litre Hellmann’s buckets cost $89.99.

6. Buckets of pickles

There are also buckets of pickles for sale.

Both Putter’s brand hamburger sliced dill pickles and regular dill pickles cost $39.99.

That’s for 20 litres worth.

7. 50 pounds of onions or carrots

The Costco Business Centre also sells 50-pound bags of onions and carrots.

Both are products of Canada, the pricing labels say, with the carrots bring products of Ontario specifically.

The 50-pound bag of onions will set you back $21.99.

The carrots cost $17.99.

8. Wheels of cheese

If you’re a cheese lover, you can buy a full wheel of parmigiano reggiano.

It costs $23.99 per kilogram, so those wheels are around $900 each.

9. Huge boxes of meat

Big boxes of meat are also for sale.

For example, you can buy 25 kg of boneless / skinless chicken breasts for $299.99.

Boneless ungraded beef brisket comes in cases, priced at $14.29 per kilogram. Some of the boxes photographed above ranged from about $424 to $483.

There are also other types of meat offered in the very large refrigerated section of the store.

10. 18 kg of poutine sauce mix

You can make plenty of poutine with buckets of poutine sauce mix.

These 18 kg containers cost $119.99.

Other notable products

There are many other big products that you can buy at the new Costco Business Centre — these were just a few.

Others include 15 kg of honey, 12 kg of olives, 10 litres of relish, 20 kg of chicken soup base, over 11 litres of vanilla ice cream, 15 dozen eggs, 10 litres of sour cream, 10 kg of yogurt, 12 kg of feta, 20 kg of rice, more than 4.5 kg of garlic sauce, whole deli meats, buckets of cleaning products, and more.

The Costco Business Centre is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
