The look of a new Costco store in Oakville is beginning to take shape.

Although construction on the new store has yet to begin, plans are currently being processed by the Town of Oakville with the expectation of approvals to be given later this year.

According to those familiar with the plans, work on the warehouse could begin sometime in the fall with the hope of 2025 opening.

The big-box warehouse slated to be built on the site at Wyecroft Rd. near Burloak Dr.

Initial plans call for the site to have 15,662.6 square meters of floor shopping area, with access off Wyecroft Rd. and RioCan Blvrd. that will lead into a parking area.

The new store will include all the usual food, clothing, television and computer departments the U.S. retail giant is well known for.

The Oakville Costco will feature more than 1,000 parking spaces that will include both surface and underground parking. Shoppers will be able to park in one of the 637 standard surface parking spots or the 306 underground parking spaces.

There will also be 16 surface parking spaces for the disabled and another six underground spaces. Cyclists will also be able to park their bikes in one of the 16 spaces that will be made available.

A gas bar is also slated for the site at the northwest corner near the South Service Rd. W. and RioCan Blvrd. intersection.
