Construction along Speers Road, which is intended to make the road safer for cyclists, is expected to be completed this fall, before resuming in 2022.

As part of the Town’s desire to make roads safer for cyclists, concrete barriers will be implemented along Speers as well as painted buffers.

Phase One of the project, which involves the area between Third Line and Fourth Line, is expected to be completed this fall, after which Phase Two, which will work on the segment of road between Fourth Line and Dorval Drive, will begin in 2022.

Additionally, these concrete barriers will allow buses to service stops without having to pull into the bike lanes to do so.

Cyclists will be required to stop and yield to passengers exiting and boarding buses at stops.

Pedestrians will also have right of way when crossing the street, and cyclists will be required to yield to them. However.
