An old Swiss Chalet location has closed and opened in a new spot in Mississauga.

The Swiss Chalet at 2975 Eglinton Ave. W. at Winston Churchill Boulevard now has a sign at the door indicating it has closed. The Swiss Chalet signage has been removed.

“We’ve moved to a brand new location,” a sign on the door reads.

The restaurant has been in that location for many years and is a source of nostalgia for some long-time residents.

“Not gonna miss the spot as i haven’t been there in close to 2 decades but… man, hits that memory button right on the nose,” one person wrote on Reddit.

The new location opened about a week ago at 6975 Meadowvale Town Centre Circle, taking part of space formerly occupied by a CIBC Bank.

Reviews on the new location have already started coming in.

“Very happy with the new location,” one reviewer posted on Google. “It was opening weekend so it was very busy and had to wait for take-out. I’m sure this will work itself out once settled in. The food was hot, fresh and our order was accurate. Very happy overall with the food first visit!!”

A few other Swiss Chalet locations have closed in Mississauga over the last few years.

In 2020, a location at 6430 Erin Mills Pkwy. closed and another at 4555 Hurontario St. in August 2020. These closures may have been related to pandemic lockdowns.

In 2019, the Swiss Chalet at 5165 Dixie Rd. suddenly closed.

The first Swiss Chalet opened in 1954 in Toronto.

According to the company’s website, there are currently seven Swiss Chalet restaurants in Mississauga.
