A boutique chocolate shop that opened about one year ago in Mississauga will close at the end of this month.

Palm Bites opened a boutique shop in Port Credit, at 167 Lakeshore Road E., in April last year.

The Port Credit location was in addition to their main headquarters in Erin Mills, which opened in 2019. They make gourmet dark chocolate-covered dates, filled and coated in nuts.

But after just one year, they have decided to close the Port Credit location.

“Palm Bites in Port Credit is shutting down,” co-owner Mustafa Al-Siaudi announced on Facebook. “After 1 year in PC, we are closing our doors on April 29th.”

Al-Siaudi explained that they wanted to convert the Port Credit location into a cafe like their other locations but, unfortunately, it’s not zoned for food handling.

“It doesn’t make sense for us to keep it as a boutique,” he said.

Between now and closing day, there will be 25 per cent off everything in store, he added.

“To get your fix in the future, we opened Café Palm Bites on Eglinton & Winston Churchill,” he said. “Thank you for all your support this past year everyone!”

The cafe is at 3920 Eglinton Ave. W., Unit 34, Mississauga, and there is another cafe in Windsor at 4072 Walker Rd.

The initial, flagship brick-and-mortar headquarters is at 171 Superior Blvd., Unit 7-9, Mississauga.
