The Beer Store is set to close more locations this weekend in Ontario.
It will add to numerous stores that have already closed amid the expanded alcohol marketplace in the province.
Most recently, on July 6, 11 locations shut down.
At the end of the business day this upcoming Sunday, July 20, another nine stores will close.
The Beer Store has also announced another 20 closures that are slated to happen in August.
Last year, Ontario’s alcohol marketplace expanded greatly, allowing thousands of convenience stores, as well as additional grocery stores, to sell booze, except for spirits.
Ozzie Ahmed, vice president of retail at The Beer Store, has previously cited the changing marketplace as the reason for closures.
“The Beer Store is making the difficult decision to close these locations. We will continue our focus on sustainability and recycling as we modernize operations in a changing marketplace,” Ahmed said in a news release about the July 20 closures.
“I understand this will be disappointing news to customers and employees.”
Here’s a look at the stores that are closing effective end of business day on Sunday, July 20:
