After more than a year, police have laid charges in the death of a Caledon man shot to death in his own home.

Shortly after midnight on Jan. 18, 2021, police say two masked suspects forced their way into the home of 65-year-old Giovanni (John) Costa on Harvest Moon Drive in Bolton.

Police say Costa and his son Michael were both shot during the home invasion, and Costa was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting was targeted according to police, and a $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to arrests and conviction.

On Thursday, police arrested a 20-year-old from Scarborough.

Jordan Andall, 20, of Scarborough has been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.

The accused was held for a bail hearing, and police are still investigating.

Surveillance cameras captured video of the suspects who arrived at the Costa residence on the day of the killing in an older black BMW 3-series sedan.

The suspects and fled the scene in the vehicle after the murder, and police said the suspects were described by witnesses as young black males.

Police said they were wearing medical-style masks and dark clothing at the time of the killing.

Just months before Giovanni’s murder, Michael was injured in another shooting outside a Vaughan café in November 2020, according to the Toronto Star.

Michael reportedly had ties to gangster Alex Kucovic who was killed in Vaughan in July 2011, and Michael believed there was a “hit on his head,” according to court documents.

Police are asking anyone with information on the homicide to contact the Caledon OPP at (905)-584-2241 or at 1-888-310-1122.

You can also provide information anonymously by contacting Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.peelcrimestroppers.ca.
