mississauga brampton men charged carjackings home invasions

An investigation into a series of armed home invasions and carjackings in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto and Richmond Hill has led to the arrests of two young men from Peel, police say.

An 18-year-old from Mississauga and a 19-year-old Brampton man were arrested last Thursday as officers with the York Regional Police holdup squad executed four search warrants at homes in Peel.

Police said they also seized a loaded gun, an extended magazine with ammunition, a replica firearm and keys to a stolen Land Rover during their searches.

The investigation began just over two months ago when a number of culprits, at least one of whom was armed with a handgun, tried to carjack a Ferrari on April 5 in Richmond Hill, police said in a news release on Wednesday.

They “were unsuccessful in obtaining the keys and fled the scene in a black Land Rover, which had been reported stolen from Peel Region on April 1,” police added.

A loaded gun was seized by police during their investigation.

Through the course of the probe, dubbed Project Gamer, officers identified suspects and located a vehicle connected to the various incidents.

Investigators believe the same group may also be connected to additional violent crimes.

Myles Tessier, 18, of Mississauga, and Anthony Low, 19, of Brampton, are each charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

Low is also charged with possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, possession of a prohibited device for a dangerous purpose and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be laid, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
