Car thefts most reported crime in Oakville last week

Auto thieves in Oakville were busy the first week of February.

There were nine reported vehicle thefts in the week of Feb. 2-8 according to the Halton Regional Police Service, making it the most reported crime during the seven-days.

In total during the week, Halton Regional Police were called to 28 incidents of crime in Oakville, a drop of 12.5 per cent from the previous week.

Vehicle thefts took place all over town during the week, with Iroquois Ridge North the busiest with two incidents.

A vehicle was also stolen from residences located in QEW West, Old Oakville, Eastlake, Midtown Core, Glen Abbey, College Park and Bronte.

There were also four incidents of theft from vehicles reported during the week, with the crime taking place in Iroquois Ridge North, QEW West, College Park and Eastlake.

Five assaults were reported during the seven-day period, with incidents happening in Glen Abbey, Bronte, Iroquois Ridge North, College Park and Uptown Core.

Four break and enters were reported in Oakville, with three being done at shops (QEW West, Glen Abbey, Old Oakville) and one at a home in Old Oakville.

There were four other thefts during the week, with one robbery in Bronte.

The largest number of crimes reported during the week were Iroquois Ridge North and Bronte.
