A car was caught on video reversing on Hwy. 401 near Pearson Airport in Mississauga early Wednesday morning (March 8).
Although the footage (see below) shows next to no vehicles on that particular stretch of the major highway at the time, except for the motorist who took the video, that situation can quickly change at any moment on Canada’s busiest highway as it passes through Mississauga and Toronto, police say.
The video, which appears to have been taken at about 6:30 a.m. on Hwy. 401 eastbound near the Hwy. 427 split, shows the car reversing in the far right lane of the highway.
Road safety officers with Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police and the OPP often remind drivers that even if the highway appears clear and it seems a simple task to reverse to your missed exit, it’s a dangerous move that can put lives at risk.
And it also carries a hefty fine.
