Cannabis worth $8M seized from a warehouse in Niagara Falls, Ontario

Cannabis plants with a street value of approximately $8 million were seized from a Niagara Falls warehouse.

An investigation began after a “strong cannabis odour” was detected from what appeared to be an abandoned warehouse on Don Murie Street in Niagara Falls, OPP said in a press release today (April 23).

Don Murie Street is in an industrial area on the south end of Niagara Falls.

The OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team got a warrant and searched the warehouse on April 17.

Police seized more than 2,500 clone cannabis plants, and more than 13,000 vegetative and mature budding cannabis plants, OPP said.

The cannabis had a potential street value of approximately $8 million, OPP said.

Six people face production-cultivate cannabis without authorization charges.

Chamrong Ladadas, 49, Arthit Seesai, 31, Xueqi Gao, 59, Jeffrey Lian, 41, and Li Cheng Feng, 58, all of no fixed address were charged. Wen Guang Zheng, 66, of Markham was also charged.

All six people were released from custody and will appear before an Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on May 30.
