A Caledon school went into lockdown and one person has been taken into custody after a weapon was reportedly seen at the school.
The Ontario Provincial Police says officers from the Caledon OPP detachment were called to Humberview Secondary School in Caledon just after 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning (Jan. 25) for a report of a potential weapon in the school.
A photo from the scene shared by police showed at least four police vehicles parked outside the school, and police said there was no threat to public safety
Access to the school and property was been closed for hours and police advised residents to avoid the area.
The OPP has not disclosed what caused the school to go into lockdown.
Police said the lockdown had been lifted just before 11:30 a.m. and one person had been taken into custody. Police did not disclose any information about the individual.
The incident was the second high school lockdown in the Region of Peel in as many days.
On Tuesday, Peel Regional Police say officers were called to Lorne Park Secondary School in Mississauga just after 1:40 p.m. after someone called police about a male suspect seen inside the school with a knife.
The school was placed on lockdown and police say one male suspect was taken into custody. No injuries were reported, and police say officers located and seized a knife.
