Burlington Weighs in on Province Ramping Up GO Train Services

It hasn’t been long since the province announced that it would be ramping up GO train services.
On Aug. 15, 2019, it was announced that Ontario will be adding 84 more train trips and extending 65 existing train trips each week across GO Transit’s network to bring more rush-hour, midday, and evening service.
The 84 trips will be added across the Kitchener, and the Lakeshore East and West train lines by the end of the month. Metrolinx, as mentioned, will also be extending 65 weekly trips across the Lakeshore West and Kitchener lines, including reinstating evening train service on the Stouffville line.
Now, Burlington Mayor, Marianne Meed Ward, recently expressed her support following this announcement noting that it is ‘great news’ for some Burlington residents.

“This is great news for Burlington residents who frequent the Lakeshore lines and can encourage new users to start taking the train,” Meed Ward said in a recent statement on her website. “I applaud the province on this announcement and hope work continues to reach all day, 15-minute service with GO Transit. By working to make transit systems more reliable and easier-to-use, commuters will see them — and be encouraged to use them — as viable alternative forms of transportation to vehicles.”
