A Burlington teenager was arrested after a Walmart employee was shot several times with a pellet gun.

The incident took place at the Walmart store on Fairview St. just after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7.

According to the Halton police, an employee of the store approached two young males who were involved in an altercation with another male. When the employee attempted to intervene, one of the suspects fired a pellet gun several times at the victim, striking him in the head area.

Both suspects then entered a vehicle and fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was located just after 6 p.m. driving in the area of Spruce Avenue and Melba Lane. Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested at that time.

A 17-year-old male from Burlington, who can’t be identified because of the Young Offenders Act, was charged with assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, discharge firearm with intent, careless use of firearm and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The second suspect was released unconditionally.

The victim attended hospital with minor injuries and was released a short time after.
