A Burlington woman was so excited with her lottery win that she rushed out to a local convenience store in her pyjamas to check her ticket. What she found surprised her even more.

Joyce Martin said he has been playing the lottery for more than 30 years so when she scratched her Instant Crossword Deluxe (game #2244) ticket she was expecting the usual negative result.

“At first I thought I won $25,000,” she said. “I didn’t want to wake my husband, so I put my raincoat on over my pyjamas and went to the store to validate the ticket!”

But instead of $250,000, Martin found she had hit the jackpot with the top prize of $250,000.

Martin called her children to tell them about the big win. They convinced her to wake her husband.

“He was worried and thought something was wrong at first,” she said.

Martin said the earning will go a long way with her family.

“I will share with my children and save for retirement,” she said. “This is a dream come true.” Joyce concluded.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hasty Market on Guelph Line in Burlington.
