Burlington mayor was paid more than $160,000 in 2021

Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward was paid more than $160,000 in 2021, while councillors pay ranged from $68,000 to $76,000.
The report at today’s (Mar. 2) Corporate Services, Strategy, Risk and Accountability Committee Meeting also showed the general expenses incurred by each councillor.
Meed Ward’s salary was $163,789, with expenses of $26,103. The general expenses include conferences.
The discrepancy in councillor salaries, although they all do the same job, is due to variations in individual benefits coverage.
General expenses for the councillors ranged from a high of ward 3’s Rory Nissan at $6,664 to a low of ward 5’s Paul Sharman at $2,943.
