If you want to get more involved in Canada’s democratic process, the City of Burlington is looking for temporary election officials to help run the 2022 municipal election.

Election officials will support the advance voting period on Oct. 15 and 18, and election day on Oct. 24.

“The municipal election comes around every four years and it really is a rare opportunity to have a front-row seat to democracy in action,” said Kevin Arjoon, City Clerk.

“I encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about how their local government works to apply to join the election team. It’s also a great chance to meet new people, work alongside members of your community and develop professional skills.”

Individuals eligible to apply are:

  • at least 18 years of age (16 years for the role of Information Assistant)
  • a resident of Ontario
  • legally entitled to work in Canada
  • not a registered candidate or closely related to one

Burlington residents will be voting for mayor, city/regional councillor, Halton Region chair, and School Board Trustee.

There are a variety of election jobs available and all positions are paid. Nominations to run as a candidate in the 2022 municipal election are open until Aug. 19, 2022.

For more information, or to apply for jobs, visit the city website.
