The City of Burlington is hosting the 12th annual Community Equipment Drive next Saturday, Oct. 16.

Things are being done a little differently this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The focus of the drive will be on sticks, skates, helmets and pucks. It’s being held in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and UCCM Anishinabek Police Services.

This year’s drive will help the Constance Lake First Nations Community, located outside Hearst, in Northern Ontario.

There are 279 children in the community who will benefit from donations by Burlington residents.

The equipment drive will take place at Mainway Recreation Centre, 4015 Mainway, from 9am. to noon.

Donations will help children who lack the access to sport programs and equipment that can improve self-esteem and contribute to healthy lifestyles.
