An event to raise both funds for, and awareness about, the people of Ukraine is being held this weekend.

The Burlington Conservative Association is hosting the free event Saturday, Mar. 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Polish Hall, 2316 Fairview St.

Courage for Ukraine will feature guest speakers Christian Borys, a Canadian freelance journalist and filmmaker turned entrepreneur who has worked with the CBC, BBC, VICE, The Guardian, UN, and more.

Borys has been reporting on Ukraine from Poland but will be back in Canada for the event.

His Saint Javelin marketing campaign has raised more than $1 million for the Help Us Help charity and the people of Ukraine.

Krystina Waler, interim executive director at Help Us Help, a foundation that focuses on helping children in Ukraine who live in residential institutions, will be among the speakers at the event.

Waler helped organize seven medical missions with the Canada Ukraine Foundation which saw Canadian medical teams travel to Ukraine to treat war casualties.

Also speaking will be Dan Muys, MP for Flamborough- Glanbrook.
