A local charitable organization that has raised more than $180,000 for local charities is returning to in-person meeting in September.

The Burlington chapter of 100 Women Who Care is meeting again on Monday, Sept. 19, at an undetermined location.

The idea behind 100 Women Who Care, which now has dozens of chapters across North America, is simple.

Each chapter should be made up of at least 100 women, each of whom pledges to donate at least $100 at each of four annual meetings. At full chapters, that’s $40,000 a year that stays in the community.

In Burlington, donations have been made to, among others, Dare to be Youth, Danielle’s Place and Black Mentorship Inc.

The 100 Women model has proven to be efficient and effective. Donations from each meeting go directly to local charities.

Charities are chosen by members, must serve the Burlington area and provide individual tax receipts directly to contributing members.
