A proposal to build an 11-storey condominium in a south Mississauga neighbourhood that currently allows developments no greater than three storeys in height will be further considered by City planning staff at a public information meeting on Monday night (June 20).

Staff says no recommendation has yet been made regarding the proposal that seeks to build the 42-unit condo building at 128 Lakeshore Rd. E., just west of Hurontario St.

The site is located on the northwest corner of Lakeshore Rd. E. and Ann St. in Port Credit, and is currently occupied by the two-storey Skinner & Middlebrook Funeral Home.

“The applicant is proposing to amend the height schedule in the Port Credit Local Area Plan to permit an additional eight storeys above the maximum building height of three storeys,” a planning report to be discussed at Monday’s meeting reads.

The purpose of the report, staff says, is to provide preliminary information about the proposal and to seek comments from the community.

Planning officials will make a recommendation on the proposal after the public meeting has been held and several issues have been resolved.

Matters to be resolved include: the provision of additional technical information including waste and stormwater management; the appropriateness of the proposed building height and setbacks; a review of reduced parking standards; ensuring compatibility of the proposed building; and the gathering of appropriate community input.
