Brampton residents are paying the least amount in rent per square foot in the GTA.

Based on the latest data from Bullpen Research and Consulting and TorontoRentals.com, Brampton had the lowest average rent per square foot for 500-, 800-, and 1,200-square-foot units, and it tied Markham for the cheapest per-square-foot price for 1,000-square-foot units.

Brampton also had the second-lowest average rent per square foot for 700-, 900-, and 1,100-square-foot units.

According to the findings, it costs $2.76 per square foot for a 500-square-foot unit, and $1.85 per square foot for a 1,000-square-foot unit.

Additionally, all units between 900 and 1,300 square feet cost less than $2 per square foot per month.

Across Ontario, condo prices have begun to rebound from the decline due to the pandemic, while apartment prices haven’t caught up yet.

In September, the average rental price of a condo was 21 per cent more than the average rental price for an apartment.

“The rental market in the GTA continues to slowly recover from the significant declines experienced during the pandemic, but average rent levels remain well below pre-COVID levels,” Ben Myers, president of Bullpen Research and Consulting, said in a news release.
