The sun is out and temperatures are up across Southern Ontario a little earlier than usual this year, so Brampton will be opening its Peel Village Golf Course a little earlier too.

The city announced they would be opening the course early on Apr. 14, setting the following Monday as the first day of operations for the year. Peel Valley is Brampton’s central golf course sitting in the heart of the city near the corner of Hurontario St. and Hwy. 407.

The course is a busy home for golfers with the city saying, “In 2022, the golf course hosted a record number of rounds and Peel Village Golf Course is a heavily utilized recreation space in Brampton.”

“Favourable weather has allowed for the season to begin two weeks earlier this year as the City of Brampton works to offer and maintain countless recreation options,” the city continued.

The record-breaking heat across the GTA has peaked at feeling like 29 degrees Celsius over the last few days. The heat’s rapid onset prompted Environment Canada air-quality warnings from Peel Region to Durham Region.

While this weather may prove a strain for some, it does prove perfect for golfers to get out on the links. Golfers can enjoy “nine challenging holes in a natural setting, with a mix of tree-lined dog-legs, water hazards, sand traps, elevated tee boxes and greens,” Brampton said, starting on Apr. 17.

Golfers should be aware however that the Peel Valley parking lot is still under construction and as such offers limited parking for the time being. Additionally, due to the early opening, powered golf carts will not be available right away.

However, golfers can already book their tee-times online.
