The City of Brampton has a few ways to stay cool as the extreme heat continues across southern Ontario.
Temperatures are expected to reach 36 C, feeling like 44 C in Brampton on Thursday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Minimum temperatures of 21 to 25 C will provide little relief from the heat.
The heat is expected to continue through Friday, and possibly into the weekend for some regions.
Brampton officials say residents can cool off in public access buildings, any recreation centre, splash pad or outdoor pool.
Residents are reminded to never leave pets or vulnerable people in the car.
The city also offers the following tips:
- Try evening walks when it’s cooler.
- Protect your pup – hot pavement can burn paws.
- Bring water for you and your dog.
- Stick to shady routes and take breaks often.
- Wear light layers and apply sunscreen.
