Brampton Civic Hospital and the Peel Memorial Centre are open amid a nationwide network outage causing issues with some health systems in the Greater Toronto Area.

The William Osler Health System, which oversees the operations at Brampton Civic, Peel Memorial and Etobicoke General Hospital, says that while patients may be experiencing issues due to the Rogers network outage, its facilities are up and running.

“Osler hospitals and facilities remain open and our main phone line is operating as usual,” the health system said in a post to Twitter. “If you have an in-person appointment today, please attend as planned.”

Rogers cell and internet customers have been without service since just after 2:o0 a.m. on Friday.

The outages have prevented many Canadians from contacting 9-1-1 and it has also led to Interac service disruptions.

The outage of internet and cell phone service led the Scarborough Health Network to bring in all on-call physicians and staff to physically come into the hospital until the disruption is resolved.

The hashtag #internetdown was trending Friday morning with many Canadians expressing frustration over the lack of telecommunication options.
